Note

Consider acute bacterial rhinosinusitis and initiate empirical antibiotic therapy IF:

  • persistent symptoms for ≥10d
  • severe symptoms of high fever (≥39°C) and purulent nasal discharge, or facial pain for ≥3-4d
  • worsening symptoms
  • double sickening by new onset of fever, headache, or increase in nasal discharge following viral URI
