Dosing

Lower respiratory tract infection 150 mg PO twice daily x10-14d

  • take in the AM and PM before meals

  • Max duration of therapy is 4 weeks

Treatment of ear, throat, respiratory, skin and urogenital infections BW <40 kg 5-7.5 mg/kg/d PO (2 divided doses)

  • Take in the AM and PM before meals

  • Max duration of therapy is 4 weeks

BW 7-13 kg 25 mg PO twice daily

BW 14-26 kg 50 mg PO twice daily

BW 27-40 kg 100 mg PO twice daily

No dose adjustment

CrCl <15Doubling the dosing interval

General Information

Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections

Monitor appropriate tissue and/or serum cultures.

Monitor signs of hypersensitivity, and for the development of superinfection or antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

  • Prolonged QT interval

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Diarrhea

  • Abdominal cramps

  • Anorexia

  • Itching

  • Eosinophilia

  • Thrombocytosis

  • Hepatotoxicity

  • Hyperglycemia

  • Pancreatitis

  • Vulvovaginal candidiasis

  • Renal failure

Average serum half life: 12 hours

Precautions: Patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment.
