  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Upper and lower urinary tract infections
  • Skin and wound infections
  • Gynecologic infections
  • Abdominal infections

Monitor renal functions and discontinue if severe nephrotoxicities, such as acute renal dysfunction and interstitial nephritis, occur.

Monitor liver functions periodically during therapy.

Perform skin reaction test prior to treatment.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Pseudomembranous colitis
  • Hypersensitivity reaction
  • Acute renal failure
  • Interstitial nephritis
  • Anemia
  • Neutropenia
  • Eosinophilia
  • Rash
  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Bilirubinemia
  • Chloramphenicol
  • Erythromycin
  • Sulfonamide drugs
  • Tetracycline
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Anticoagulants
  • Allopurinol- increased risk of adverse skin reactions

Increased toxicity with:

  • Methotrexate
  • Probenecid
