Primary

  • Cellulitis and erysipelas

Alternative

  • Uncomplicated urinary infections with cefazolin-sensitive microorganisms

DO NOT use for cefazolin-sensitive systemic infections or complicated urinary infections due to E. coli, K. pneumoniae, or P. mirabilis.

Monitor fever, CBC, renal and hepatic functions, previous hypersensitivity to other beta-lactam antibiotics.

Monitor signs of serum-sickness-like reactions; antibiotic-associated diarrhea, other superinfections.

  • Erythema multiforme

  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome

  • Clostridium difficile diarrhea

  • Thrombocytopenia

  • Liver failure

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Hypersensitivity reaction

  • Warfarin -increased risk of bleeding
