General Information

  • Endometritis
  • Female genital infection
  • Gonorrhea
  • Infection of skin and/or subcutaneous tissue
  • Infectious disease of abdomen
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Peritonitis
  • Urinary tract infectious disease
  • Respiratory tract infection

Monitor fever, symptomatic improvement, CBC, and hepatic and renal functions.

Check previous hypersensitivity to other beta-lactam antibiotics.

Monitor prothrombin time in patients at risk.

Monitor signs of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, serum-sickness-like reactions, and thrombophlebitis.

Precautions:

  • Exercise with caution in patients with history of GI disease, especially colitis.
  • Monitor for vitamin K deficiency.
  • Hepatic impairment and comorbid significant renal disease requires monitoring if high dosages are used.
  • Use cautiously in beta-lactam allergy patients.
  • Discontinue if allergic reaction occurs.
