Monitor hematopoietic, hepatic and renal functions periodically during prolonged therapy.

Precautions:

  • Use with caution in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins or history of drug allergy; discontinue use if hypersensitivity occurs.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially collitis.
  • Discontinuation of antibacterial use not directed against C. difficile may be required.
  • Use caution in patients with overt or subclinical diabetes or patients with carbohydrate intolerance for any reason (dextrose-containing solutions only).
