Nystatin

General Information

  • May produce diarrhea and GI side effects

Neonatal: PO: 100,000 unit/mL oral Topical: Topical ointment & cream 100,000 unit/g

  • Treat until 48-72 hours after resolution of symptoms. Usual treatment duration for oral candidiasis is 10-14 days
  • Nystatin is not appreciably absorbed when given orally
  • Topical cream is preferred to ointment in diaper areas
