Acute Hematogenous Osteomyelitis (AHOM)

Criteria

  • Hospitalized at PHCH

  • Acute Hematogenous Osteomyelitis (Less than 2 weeks)

  • Ability to take enteral medication

  • Age < 18 years old

  • Significant co-morbid condition such as immunocompromised

  • Sickle cell

  • Cancer

  • etc.

  • Admission to the NICU or PICU

  • Persistent bacteremia

  • 3 positive daily blood cultures after initiation of appropriate antibiotics

  • Post-surgical osteomyelitis

  • Recent trauma

  • Chronic osteomyelitis
