Enterobacter species
General Susceptibility

General Susceptibility

  •  Quinolones
  •  Cefepime
  •  Less serious infections: Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole
  •  Carbapenems

This organisms is known to produce inducible beta-lactamase which cause failure of 3rd generation beta-lactam (ceftriaxone) therapy, despite in vitro susceptibility. Do not use ceftriaxone or cefdinir for serious Enterobacter infections.
