80% of cases are mild, uncomplicated upper respiratory tract viral infection

  • Pneumonia

  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)

  • Sepsis

  • Septic shock

Deterioration in adults is often sudden and may occur in the second week of illness.

  • associated with severe illness and mortality

  • higher risk of deterioration and should be monitored closely

  • Pregnant women experience immunologic and physiologic changes which might make them more susceptible to viral respiratory infections, including COVID-19

  • Pregnant women might also be at risk for severe illness, morbidity, or mortality compared to the general population as observed in cases of other related coronavirus infections and other viral respiratory infections, such as influenza, during pregnancy
