General Susceptibility

TMP-SMX is the most reliable agent.

Other drugs such levofloxacin, minocycline, and tigecycline are sometimes used if susceptible. However, levofloxacin should not be used as monotherapy.

Ceftazidime is less effective against Stenotrophomonas than other agents and is not routinely reported.  It may be considered in combination with another active agent if other options are not available

Intrinsically resistant to most beta-lactams including pip-tazo and carbapenems.
