General Information

Treatment of resistant Gram-negative infections when broad spectrum coverage is needed but not requiring anti-Pseudomonas or enterococcal activity

Treatment of polymicrobial diabetic foot infections when suspected bacteria have a high likelihood of resistance to cefazolin or ceftriaxone

  • Unlike other carbapenems, does not cover Pseudomonas.

  • No activity against enterococci or Stenotrophomonas

Valproic acid - Carbapenems decrease valproate levels and may decrease seizure threshold
