EOS Risk Factors

  • Maternal GBS colonization or GBS bacteriuria at any time in the pregnancy
  • Previous infant with GBS sepsis/meningitis
  • Premature rupture of membranes (ROM) - rupture of membranes prior to onset of labor
  • Maternal infection (e.g. urinary tract infection)
  • Preterm labor, with spontaneous onset, especially prior to 32 weeks GA
  • Prolonged ROM (more than 18 hours duration)
  • Maternal chorioamnionitis: maternal fever, maternal/fetal tachycardia, foul smelling fluid and tender uterus
  • Maternal fever (at or greater than 38°C)
  • Maternal infection (e.g. urinary tract infection)
  • Prematurity
