Most commonly gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting
May increase warfarin levels.
Available as a 500 mg capsule.
Oral
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to one or more of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)
First generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic (bactericidal)
Half-life elimination: 1.5 to 2 hours; 20 to 24 hours in renal failure
Time to peak serum concentration: Within 70 to 90 minutes
Excretion: Urine (>90% as unchanged drug within 24 hours)
