Should only be performed on patients with signs and symptoms or high clinical suspicion for UTI to avoid detecting asymptomatic bacteriuria
Once a pathogen is identified on urine culture, the empiric antibiotic choice should be reviewed for appropriateness and de-escalated whenever possible
Follow up UA or culture is not necessary as test of cure
