General Information

Therapy of Streptococcal and Enterococcal infections as well as susceptible gram negative infections.

Commonly used for upper respiratory infections and urinary tract infections.

SCr at baseline, then if prolonged treatment continued, draw periodically; CBC, LFT if prolonged tx.

  • Allergy/rash (immediate or delayed)
  • candidiasis, oral or vulvovaginal
  • Note EBV related rash
  • Cytopenias
  • black hairy tongue
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome

Allopurinol - increased rash
