General Susceptibility

Salmonella gastroenteritis is generally a self-limited illness which should not be treated with antibiotics. Treat if immunosuppressed/bacteremic, high fever, or hospitalized.

Antibiotics of choice:

  • Ceftriaxone
  • Ciprofloxacin
  • Amoxicillin
  • SMX-TMP
