Probenecid - prolonged half-life. Drug interaction has been used therapeutically to give once daily cefazolin.
May increase levels/effects of: fosphenytoin; Phenytoin; Rifampin; Vitamin K antagonists (including warfarin).
May decrease levels/effects of: BCG vaccine; Cholera vaccine; Typhoid vaccine;, Sodium Picosulfate; Estriol; Lactobacillus.
Cefazolin (urinary) sensitivity correlates to use of cephalexin and cefprozil when used for treatment of uncomplicated UTIs due to E.coli, K. pneumoniae, and P. mirabilis. It DOES NOT predict cefazolin for therapy of infections other than uncomplicated UTIs.
