General Information

Restricted Antimicrobial: See Approved Indications of Use.

Caspofungin is often used in management of suspected and confirmed invasive fungal infections, particularly Candidiasis and Aspergillosis.

  • Infusion-related reactions (rash, pruritis)

  • Increase liver enzymes

  • GI upset

  • Decreases levels of Tacrolimus

  • Cyclosporine may increase levels of Caspofungin

  • Rifampin may decrease Caspofungin concentrations

Echinocandins achieve therapeutic concentrations in all infection sites with the exception of the eye, CNS, and urine.
