Susceptibilities

General Information

Ampicillin (with or without gentamicin)

  • TMP/SMX
  • Meropenem
  • Linezolid

Aerobic, gram-positive bacilli

  • Usually causes infection in neonates, pregnant women, elderly, and immunocompromised patients
  • Outbreaks associated with deli meat, soft cheeses, unpasteurized milk, and others
  • Meningitis
  • Bacteremia
  • Septic abortion/miscarriage/stillbirth
  • Gastroenteritis

Dexamethasone should be avoided in patients with Listeria meningitis as it is associated with worse outcomes.
