General Information

Surgical Prophylaxis, intra-abdominal infections

EAP (Injection)

1% to 10%:

  • Gastrointestinal: Diarrhea
  • Renal function periodically when used in combination with other nephrotoxic drugs
  • Liver function and hematologic function tests
  • Number and type of stools/day for diarrhea
  • Observe for signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis during first dose

Due to rising resistance with anaerobic pathogens, cefoxitin is not preferred for treating intra-abdominal infections
