Restricted Indications
Infants less than 1 month corrected age (ceftriaxone may cause bilirubin encephalopathy)
Patients with liver/gallbladder/biliary disease, including perioperative prophylaxis in liver transplantation (ceftriaxone may cause biliary sludging)
Restricted Prophylaxis Indications
Peri-operatively in liver transplantation
Prophylaxis against Neisseria meningitidis where rifampin and ceftriaxone are contraindicated
