General Information

HEALTH CANADA APPROVED

  • Treatment of various infections due to susceptible organisms, including the following: complicated intra-abdominal, urinary tract or skin and soft tissue infections, community acquired pneumonia and gynecological infections

CNS disorders (eg, brain lesions or history of seizures) and/or compromised renal function; potential to cause seizures

Valproic acid serum concentrations may be reduced to subtherapeutic levels, resulting in a loss of seizure control. Monitor valproic acid levels

LOCAL REACTIONS

  • Pain on injection, thrombophlebitis

GASTROINTESTINAL

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Anaphylaxis, including bronchospasm and hypotension (rare)
  • Seizures, associated with high doses in patients with renal impairment
  • Headache
