  • Community acquired pneumonia
  • Intra-abdominal infection
  • Epiglottitis

Hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, any component of formulation or other cephalosporins

  • Allergy (immediate & delayed)
  • Positive Coombs
  • Cytopenias
  • GI upset
  • Diarrhea
  • Abnormal liver enzymes
  • Can be given IM
  • Subcutaneous use: no information available at this time
  • Cefuroxime axetil is an orally active prodrug of cefuroxime
