Inpatient Regimens

Note

All ongoing antibiotic therapy should be determined in consultation with the oncologist or GP oncologist

First Line Treatment

OR

If severe allergy/anaphylaxis to penicillins

OR

If documented or suspected extended spectrum beta lactamase producing organism

Duration of Treatment

If source/pathogen identified: Treat as recommended for site of infection, organism and clinical recovery

If no source/pathogen identified: Continue antibiotics until infection symptoms have resolved, patient is hemodynamically stable and afebrile for at least 72 hours

  • Reassess for new source
  • Consider antifungal therapy
  • Consider Infectious Diseases physician/site pharmacist consult
