General Information

  • Streptococcal infections
  • Neurosyphilis
  • Allergy/rash (immediate or delayed)

  • Abnormal liver enzymes
  • Serum sickness
  • In patients with syphilis, treatment with penicillin G can induce a Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (fever, chills, myalgia, flushing and skin rash) which is often falsely diagnosed as an "allergy".
