Dosing

General Information

  • Uncomplicated anogenital gonorrhea infection (urethral, endocervical, vaginal, rectal) combine with azithromycin 1 g PO in a single dose
  • Can be used for other infections resistant to first line agents but susceptible to cefixime

NOT Recommended in any gonorrhea infection in men who have sex with men OR pharyngeal infection in men or women, preferred therapy is:

  • Ceftriaxone 250mg IM PLUS azithromycin 1g PO in a single dose
  • Allergy/rash
  • Positive Coombs test
  • Cytopenias
  • Gastrointestinal intolerance
  • Elevated liver enzymes
  • C. difficile associated diarrhea
