Dosing

Do NOT confuse with Penicillin G benzathine

Penicillin G benzathine, if administered IV may cause cardiorespiratory arrest or death.

Maternal prophylaxis for prevention of neonatal disease5 million units once at onset of labor followed by 2.5 million units every 4 hours until delivery

1 - 24 million units / day in 4-12 divided doses

Therapy of Streptococcal and other documented susceptible infections.

  • Allergy/rash (immediate or delayed)

  • Seizures

  • Cytopenias

  • Eosinophilia

  • Interstitial nephritis

  • Abnormal liver enzymes

  • Serum sickness
