Dosing

  • Severe infections or Wt > 80 kg or age <70 yo: 3 g q6h

  • Less severe infection or Weight </= 80 kg or age 70+ yo: 1.5 g q6h

General Information

  • Cat/dog/human bites

  • Aspiration pneumonia

  • Mild intra-abdominal infection

  • Mild-moderate diabetic foot infection

Allergy and rash as for all beta-lactams.

EBV related rash (not allergy).

Rare: cytopenias, +ve Coombs.

Increased risk of rash with allopurinol

Antimicrobial class: Aminopenicillin + Beta-lactamase inhibitor

Biliary penetration: Therapeutic

CSF penetration: Therapeutic (ampicillin component only)
