General Susceptibility

General Susceptibility

Anti-staphylococcal penicillins (i.e. cloxacillin) and cephalosporins (i.e. cefazolin) are optimal agents for intravenous therapy of MSSA infections.

Variable susceptibility to:

  • TMP-SMX,
  • Clindamycin
  • Tetracyclines

Susceptible to:

  • Vancomycin
  • Daptomycin
  • Linezolid

Variably susceptible to:

  • Clindamycin
  • Tetracyclines

By definition resistant to cloxacillin and cephalosporins.

Clindamycin/TMP-SX/Tetracycline are not reported for sterile site isolates and should not be used for bacteremia, CNS infection etc
