Dosing

General Information

Therapy of suspected and confirmed invasive candidiasis, especially for species suspected to be non-susceptible to fluconazole.

Periodic CBC, BMP, and liver function tests.

  • Increased liver enzymes
  • GI upset (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting)
  • Local phlebitis
  • Histamine-mediated infusion reaction with rash, facial swelling, pruritus, and vasodilation (infusion can be slowed if these reactions occur)
  • Headache
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Renal failure
  • Hyperkalemia
  • Hemolytic anemia
  • Increases levels of itraconazole and nifedipine (mild; monitor closely)
  • Increases levels of sirolimus, monitor sirolimus serum concentrations

Distribution: distributes into lung, liver, and spleen; minimally to CNS and eyes; poor urinary concentrations.
