Dosing

General Information

Administration

  • Intermittent IV infusion over 1 hour
  • Intermittent IV infusion of 3g doses over 3 hours

Preparation

  • Reconstitute with 10 mg SWFI or NS
  • Protect from light

Compatibility

  • D5W or NS

Intra-abdominal Infections, hospital-acquired or ventilator-associated pneumonia, complicated UTI

  • Renal Function
  • Increased serum transaminases
  • Renal impairment
  • Diarrhea
  • GI upset
  • Headache
  • Aminoglycosides: enhance nephrotoxic effects of AGs
  • Probenecid: may increase Betalactamase Inhibitor serum concentration
  • Vitamin K Antagonists: enhance anticoagulant effect of warfarin

Antimicrobial class: Cephalosporin Combination

Pregnancy Consideration: An increased risk of major birth defects or other adverse outcomes not observed following maternal use of cephalosporin antibiotics.

Half-life elimination: Ceftolozane: ~3 to 4 hours; Tazobactam: ~2 to 3 hours

Excretion: Ceftolozane: Urine (>95% as unchanged drug); Tazobactam: urine (>80% as unchanged drug)
