Diabetic Foot Infections

Management Considerations

Systemic Signs of Infection:

  • Temperature ≥ 38°C or ≤ 36°C
  • Tachypnea (RR > 24 bpm)
  • Tachycardia (HR > 90 bpm)
  • Leukocytosis (WBC ≥ 12,000 cells/µL)

Treatment

Local infection without deeper tissue involvement and no systemic signs of infection

Local erythema > 2 cm or involving structures deeper than the skin and subcutaneous tissues and no systemic signs of infection

Local infection as above with ≥ 2 systemic signs of infection
