Normal oral/gastrointestinal flora

  • Oral/dental infections
  • Aspiration pneumonia
  • Empyema
  • Intra-abdominal abscess
  • Diabetic foot infection
  • Bacteremia
  • Head and neck infection including Lemierres disease (septic jugular thrombophlebitis) associated with F. necrophorum

Bacteremia with F. necrophorum should prompt thorough investigation for septic thrombophlebitis (Lemierres) Susceptibility testing is not routinely performed
