General Information

Nonfermenting aerobic gram negative bacillus

Ubiquitous, water-associated pathogen, easily selected for by the administration of non-antipseudomonal antimicrobials

Common in hospital environment

May be a colonizer of diseased airways and other sites

Important pathogen of generally nosocomial infections if patient has had multiple prior antimicrobials.

May require contact +/- droplet precautions if highly resistant
