Should not be used. Dose not achieve levels appropriate for most infections. Alternate drugs should be used if a beta-lactam is needed.

  • Long-acting penicillin preparation
  • Very slowly absorbed after IM injections
    • Plasma concentrations produced are sustained but subtherapeutic

Accidental IV injections to humans can cause cardiovascular arrest and death.

Should not be given IV.
